Piston Coatings
When considering coating your engine, pistons is one of the first things that should come to mind.
Coating your pistons will increase the life of your engine as well as increase hp.
Our coatings will benefit all pistons whether 4 stroke, 2 stroke, gas, alcohol, diesel, or rotary.

PistonWe offer three different coating systems for pistons.
  • Thermal Barriers
  • Dry Film Lubricants
  • Oil Shedding Coatings
Applying a Thermal Barrier to your piston will insulate it against damaging heat transfer. By keeping the piston from absorbing heat energy, that energy can now be used to help push the piston, which will increase hp. The surface temp of the piston is greatly reduced, that will reduce the heat transferred to the incoming fuel mixture, leading to a reduction in pre-ignition, which leads to detonation.
The coating also allows for a more even surface temperature on piston tops with will reduce “hot spots”. With more even heat and the reflection properties of the ceramic, this coating will result in a more efficient combustion of the fuel.
For high performance engines running Nitrous, Superchargers, or Turbochargers, we also have a Cermet coating which is specifically designed for engines running high compression ratios.

The Dry Film coating greatly reduces friction, galling, and wear. This coating is “fluid retaining”. This means it will actually hold oil to the surface beyond where it would normally be squeezed off. This coating is able to withstand pressures up to 350,000 PSI. Less friction = less heat = more hp.

Our Oil Shedding coating is applied to the underside of the piston. When oil gets splashed on the underside of the piston the coating will shed it rapidly instead of it sticking to the surface. This will allow a higher amount of cooler oil to have contact with the piston keeping it cooler.

A combination of these three will reduce friction and heat, and that will increase hp and life of the piston.
